Aodann is all about amazing views, comfort and design. The architect-designed house was built to sit into the hillside while making the most of the stunning views of Loch Ewe, all the way from the open sea to the pretty Highland village of Poolewe and to the mountains beyond.

We wanted it to sit into the hillside to minimise the visual impact on this beautiful area and also be as low energy as possible with lots of insulation, high quality double glazing on windows that are positioned for maximum solar gain. We’ve furnished the house with some of our favourite design pieces and original art. We hope you will love it as much as we do.

We are just a short distance from Poolewe which has a shop, pub and café. Just beyond the village you will find the National Trust for Scotland property Inverewe House and Gardens which is a wonderful day out and has a choice of cafes. Gairloch with its range of shops, cafes and pubs is a short drive (or cycle!) away.

Aodann was completed in 2016 and sleeps six (two doubles, one twin/double). There is lots of parking plus outdoor space for eating, relaxing or wildlife spotting.

Poolewe: three miles, Gairloch: five miles, Aultbea: four miles.

We are a scenic two hour drive from Inverness airport where there are flights to many UK and some overseas destinations.

We have avoided a garden as such because we want to house to disappear into the landscape as much as possible so we have left much of the land around the house to do its own thing. The land slopes steeply away from the house, so just be aware of that if you are coming with small children. The garden areas is completely fenced and there are plenty of places for sitting out and enjoying the stunning views across Loch Ewe and to the mountains beyond.

Please note, Aodann is a no smoking house.

We are a short drive away from Culzean Castle, Turnberry Hotel and golf course and Burns Cottage. Also very near to Dalduff Barn and Blairquhan Castle, both popular wedding venues. Sitting nestled in the Girvan Valley and surrounded by open countryside, the views from the cottage are beautiful.

Entering into a welcoming hallway, the first room is the generous sittingroom with comfortable sofa, dining table and Laura Ashley decor and soft furnishings. This room has countryside views and a door leading into the kitchen as well as access onto the hallway. The beautiful newly finished kitchen offers a good range of shaker style units, oven and ceramic hob, microwave and fridge. Relax in front of the woodburning stove on the comfy leather carver chairs. The stairway leads onto a good sized landing and the loft bedroom, a lovely relaxing romantic cottage bedroom with very comfortable bed, pine furniture and garden views. There is a lovely cottage garden which you may wish to sit out in when the weather is good, with a separate gravelled area and seating which catches the sun.
