50 Weird Scottish Words for you to Learn

Hidden Aberdeen Tours is run by historian and folklorist, Dr Fiona-Jane Brown, a native of Aberdeen City. Started in 2011 as a creative response to local interest in history and culture, the tours have grown in content and size. We can now take groups of up to 40 people on our public walks, we have special deals for small groups (£45 for a group of 3-7) and community organisations wishing to book privately.

Our tours are aimed at adults and older children, especially our ghost tours which can be scary.

Walks usually take place in the evenings for public tours, 7.30pm start and most last 2 hrs.

We cover a range of subjects including Crime & Punishment, Medieval & Prehistoric Origins, Aberdeen’s Lost Cinemas, The Blitz Experience, Union Street and its Origins, Fittie and Torry, our two stunning fishing enclaves, and not forgetting our university precinct which features the 500 year old Kings College chapel.

Tours run from February to August. Private bookings are taken right up to November, excluding Halloween when we have a special seasonal spooky tour!

At Borders Journeys we specialise in providing exclusive private and small group guided tours of the Scottish Borders, Dumfries & Galloway and Northumberland. Our range of luxury tours is a wonderful way to experience the beauty, history and culture of these unspoilt areas. Our tours are led by our knowledgeable and experienced local tour guide Ian; together you will explore historic towns, fairytale castles, spectacular scenery, woolen and cashmere products, beautiful local crafts and charming tea rooms. We go off the beaten track and provide real local knowledge. We have negotiated access to exclusive products and services that are not normally available.

As well as visiting the Scottish Borders, Dumfries & Galloway and Northumberland, we provide tours throughout Scotland. Rosslyn Chapel, Glenkinchie Distillery, Dumfries House and Samyé Ling Tibetan Centre are firm favourites with our visitors.

We give advice about researching your Scottish ancestry and will undertake research on your behalf. Our individually designed ancestral tours will take you on a journey of discovery. On your tour you will walk in the footsteps of your ancestors and discover the places connected with them.

We organise transport and accommodation for golf tours throughout Scotland. A firm favourite is the Freedom of the Fairways golf pass which operates in the Scottish Borders from April until the end of October and is Scotland’s Best Selling Golf Pass.

We can collect you from your cruise ship, provide you with a day tour then return you back to your ship. Airport collection and transfers are also available.

Borders Journeys wants you to have a tour to remember and will guarantee that your expectations are met. Please contact us and we will start designing a tour especially for you.
