Lilac Bank Cottage

Beautiful Weaver's self catering cottage in village of Crosshill Maybole near Culzean Castle and Burns Cottage

Lilac Bank Cottage

Full Description

Lilac Bank Cottage is a lovely historic period home, built in 1829, in the little weaver’s village of Crosshill, Maybole. We are a short drive away from Culzean Castle, Turnberry Hotel and golf course and Burns Cottage. Also very near to Dalduff Barn and Blairquhan Castle, both popular wedding venues. Sitting nestled in the Girvan Valley and surrounded by open countryside, the views from the cottage are beautiful.
The cottage has been completely refurbished in line with Historic Scotland’s guidelines to create comfortable up to date accommodation with it’s history intact. Entering into a welcoming hallway, the first room is the generous sittingroom with comfortable sofa, dining table and Laura Ashley decor and soft furnishings. This room has countryside views and a door leading into the kitchen as well as access onto the hallway. The beautiful newly finished kitchen offers a good range of shaker style units, oven and ceramic hob, microwave and fridge. Relax in front of the woodburning stove on the comfy leather carver chairs. At the end of the hallway, a utility area houses the central heating boiler and washing machine and leads onto the full sized bathroom which is fully tiled and offers bath and over bath shower and screen. The stairway leads onto a good sized landing and the loft bedroom, a lovely relaxing romantic cottage bedroom with very comfortable bed, pine furniture and garden views. There is a lovely cottage garden which you may wish to sit out in when the weather is good, with a separate gravelled area and seating which catches the sun.
Our location is perfect for touring South Ayrshire and the surrounding areas with the ferry port at Ardrossan (Ferry to Arran) 40 minutes by car, Glasgow, an hour and Dumfries house around 40 minutes. The South Ayrshire coastline is stunning and offers direct access south to Cairn Ryan for the ferry to Ireland. There are 26 castles in the Carrick area and the cottage is near to the Galloway Dark Sky Park and Observatory at Dalmellington. Experience the lovely beaches at Culzean and Maidens or the Whisky Experience at Kirkoswald.
There are many excellent restaurants in the area, the nearest and a favourite with our guests being Kirkmichael Arms two miles away in the next village. Also in Kirkmichael is Jocks tea room, lovely for coffee or lunch. Travelling twenty minutes down the coast is Maidens with Malin Court and Wildings both offering a great menu. Slightly inland from there is Souter’s Inn in Kirkoswald, a stunning thatch roofed restaurant with Rabbie Burns links.
