Scotland has a highly respected, world leading education system, providing free education to all children who live in the country of Scotland. Colleges and universities enhance and develop learning from school leaving age with systems for further education. The country has adopted a life long learning approach to learning that starts in school and continues throughout college, university and life.

With world leading education facilities dotted around the country from central Scotland locations like Dundee, Edinburgh and Glasgow to Aberdeen in the North East and Inverness in the Highlands and Islands it is possible to achieve a good study life / work life balance while training and learning in Scotland. In addition learning can be undertaken while still maintaining easy access to the outdoors, countryside and landscape during time off for leisure activities.

Numerous specialist training facilities bolster learning post school and university with workplace apprenticeship schemes, in-house training and external training for all subjects and topics. Supported by business and industry these additional training opportunities are available to those in the workplace and those who may wish to retrain for a career change or even to those who just want to learn more about a particular topic.

While much of the early learning in education system is government funded there are other options for school leavers, young adults and older people to secure funding to help people to improve their knowledge and skillset to make them more employable. A funding boost can provide incentive for learning for those who wish to further their education, training or learning. Government grants, bursaries and workplace funded opportunities are available for those who seek them out.
